Our Blue Badge Campaign – The Future

After the success of their campaign against the Blue Badge Charge, DGVoice has built on this foundation to encourage a positive approach to Transport Strategy and Road Safety Issues affecting Disabled People.
Robert Allan, DGVoice Policy Officer said:
Now that we have successfully dealt with the Blue Badge Charge, it is time to build on that positive outcome and play a leading role in all aspects of Transport Policy where that affects disabled people.”
DGVoice has already opened a dialogue with the Council and the Police and work to set up an Advisory Group focussing on Disabled Parking, Local Transport Strategy and on Road Safety issues is well advanced. The council view DGVoice as a Stakeholder representing the views of Disabled People in these critical areas which so affect the lives of disabled people.
And DGVoice has already started campaigning on these issues, working to have a ‘Puffin’ pedestrian crossing installed in Moffat, where disabled people and the elderly in particular have great difficulty crossing the ‘double road’ that runs through the town.
Once the Advisory Group is fully established want to improve every aspect of Transport Policy and Road Safety as it affects Disabled People in Dumfries and Galloway.
The first meeting of the Advisory Group will be held in May.
